KP's maiden half ton takes RCB to 6-wkt win over Kings XI
Kevin Pietersen (66 not out) got three lives before notching up his maiden Indian Premier League half century and helping Royal Challengers Bangalore score a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab tonight.
Pietersen, who was dropped thrice while on 36, 47 and 50, played sheet anchor with two crucial partnerships -- 71 off 51 balls for the third wicket with Virat Kohli and 40 from just 15 balls for fourth wicket with Robin Uthappa as RCB romped home with five balls to spare in chase of 182.
Uthappa played a stunning cameo of 22 from just eight balls with two sixes and a four to take the score near finishing line at the PCA Stadium.
Pietersen, who hit seven fours and one six in his 44-ball knock in his second match for RCB, smashed the winning runs, a four off Irfan Pathan, to take his side to 184 for four.

Man Utd thump Bolton to return to best
Dimitar Berbatov scores twice to inspire Manchester United to a 4-0 win over Bolton and restore the champions' narrow lead at the top of the Premier League.

"It was a real battle. I said to the referee at half-time it was supposed to be a game of football.
"He handled it the best way he could.
"You need to show composure because the ball is never out of the air, and we needed some fantastic defending at times.
"I don't know how many times Nemanja Vidic headed the ball clear but it must have been thousands."
Bolton manager Owen Coyle:
"I'm disappointed with the defeat and the manner of the defeat late on.
"That's what happens when you play against the top teams. If you start them goals as we did you're going to be punished. But for 70 minutes of the game I thought we were terrific.
"There was a lot of things we could have done better. The scoreline flatters Manchester United - no doubt about it. We were the architects of our own downfall."

Jlloyd Samuel inadvertently handed United the initiative when he turned a Ryan Giggs cross into his own net.
Berbatov stretched the lead, turning in the rebound from a Darren Fletcher shot before flicking in Nani's cross.
Fabrice Muamba had earlier gone close for Bolton, but Nani set up substitute Darron Gibson to seal the win late on.
A point ahead in the title race at the afternoon's outset, United briefly relinquished the lead to Chelsea, who hammered Aston Villa 7-1 at Stamford Bridge, but re-established their slender advantage with a performance of growing authority.
Bolton provided stern opposition in the initial stages, weathering an early United storm and testing Edwin van der Sar's reflexes through Johan Elmander and, notably, Muamba, who drew a flying, fingertip save from the United keeper

He led the Brazilian national soccer team to three World Cup victories in 1958, 1962, and 1970 and to permanent possession of the Jules Rimet Trophy.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento was born to a poor family on Oct. 23, 1940, in Tres Coracoes, Brazil. He began playing for a local minor-league club when he was a teenager. He made his debut with the Santos Football Club in 1956. With Pele at inside left forward, the team won several South American clubs' cups and the 1962 world club championship, in addition to the three World Cup championships.
Pele scored his 1,000th goal in 1969. The legendary athlete retired in 1974 but made a comeback in 1975 after accepting a reported 7-million-dollar contract for three years with the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League. He said he came out of retirement, not for the money, but to "make soccer truly popular in the United States." His farewell appearance was against his old Santos club in1977.
Pele, whose nickname does not mean anything, became a Brazilian national hero and was also known as Perola Negra (Black Pearl).
An average-sized man, he was blessed with speed, great balance, tremendous vision, the ability to control the ball superbly, and the ability to shoot powerfully and accurately with either foot and with his head. In his career he played in 1,363 matches and scored 1,282 goals. His best season was 1958, when he scored 139 times. In addition to his accomplishments in sports, he published several best-selling autobiographies, starred in several documentary and semidocumentary films, and composed numerous musical pieces, including the entire sound track for the film 'Pele' (1977). He was the 1978 recipient of the International Peace Award, and in 1980 he was named athlete of the century.

Who is the world’s fastest bowler in history of Cricket?

Do you know who is the fastest bowler in history of world Cricket? Recently I have tried to find the answer of this question on internet. I saw several videos, read the achieves of various new papers and magazines and finally got the information that Jeff Thomson and Shoaib Akhtar are considered as the world’s fastest bowlers. Competing in a 1978 fast bowling contest that included many of the leading bowlers in the world, Thomson came first with a delivery clocked at 147.9 km/h, ahead of Michael Holding (141.3 km/h) and Imran Khan (139.7 km/h). In 1975 during a test match, he was timed using high-speed cameras at 160.45 km/h and then the following year he was timed at 160.58 km/h using conventional radar. Australian wicket-keeper Rod Marsh kept wicket to Thomson for most of his Test career and claimed that Thomson bowled upto speed of 180 km/h which is much greater than the present recorded speed on bowling of Shoaib Akhtar. But there is no recorded proof of Thomson bowling at the speed of 180 km/h.

Tendulkar underlined his sensational class with a double century in Gwalior
Sachin Tendulkar created history with the first double century in one-day internationals as India thrashed South Africa by 153 runs in Gwalior.
The 36-year-old hit 25 fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 200 off 147 balls.
It passed the previous best of 194, set by Pakistan's Saeed Anwar in 1997 and Zimbabwe's Charles Coventry last year.
Mahendra Dhoni hit four sixes in 68 from 35 balls in a mammoth 401-3, and South Africa were 248 all out as India took an unassailable 2-0 series lead.
Tendulkar, whose previous best one-day knock was the 186 not out he scored against New Zealand in 1999, is already the leading run-scorer in Test and ODI cricket.
But to have reached such a landmark, with a single in the final over, only serves to underline his class and add to the legacy that already surrounds arguably the finest batsman to have played the game.
His innings, the 46th one-day century of his career, was typified by wristy strokes, trademark boundary shots and, above all, stamina as he batted through the entire innings.
He passed the previous best score in ODIs off 140 deliveries before taking his time over the final six runs, completing his double century with a single off Charl Langeveldt four balls from the end of the innings.
Several leading former players who were fortunate to witness the innings saluted India's favourite son Tendulkar.
So glad he is the first one to get there in the mens game.
Former India captain Bishen Singh Bedi said: "It was a great moment for us and another class act from Tendulkar. Sachin has been a great warrior for us and this innings was a delight to watch."
The former Pakistan captain Aamer Sohail, who was Anwar's opening partner, said: "It was a brilliant innings and if you speak to Saeed Anwar, he would be so glad Tendulkar was the one to break his record.
"We all know how talented and how passionate he is about the game, but it's incredible that at the age of 36 he is still going on, he plays the full 50 overs, runs hard and at no point during this knock did he look like he was going to throw his wicket away.
"But the biggest reason he gets all these records is because he respects the game tremendously."
Another former Pakistan captain and top-order batsman Rameez Raja also paid rich tribute to Tendulkar.
"He's been a great ambassador for India and world cricket," Rameez said. "He is a great role model because for someone who has played international cricket for 20-odd years there isn't a single scandal against him.
"It shows the character of the man and he still has the passion and enthusiasm of a 10-year-old."
Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar became the first man to score 200 in ODis when he scored 200* against the Proteas.
It's taken 2962 games but at last a batsman has made an ODI double ton. Fittingly the man to do it was none other than Sachin Tendulkar.
